Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), today forecasted
that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind is likely to occur over the country in the next 24 hours ending tomorrow
at 9 am.
According to the BMD weather forecast, light to moderate
rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur
at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at
many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately
heavy to heavy falls at places over the country during the period.
Besides, day and night temperatures may remain nearly
unchanged over the country, the weather bulletin also said.
The Met Office said that the wind direction and speed at
Dhaka will be (10-15) kph South or South-easterly with temporary gusting to
(25-30) kph.
The humidity, meanwhile, was recorded in the last 24 hours
is 88 percent.
Meteorologist Md. Monowar Hossain said in the weather
forecast that the axis of the monsoon trough has been running through Bihar,
West Bengal to Assam across the northern part of Bangladesh. As a result, one
of its associated troughs has extended up to Northwest Bay. For this, the
monsoon is “fairly active” over Bangladesh and “moderate” over North Bay.
The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 36.0°C
yesterday at Ishwardi in the Rajshahi division while today’s minimum
temperature was recorded at 24.0°C at Sitakunda in the Chattogram division.
Today’s sunset will be at 6:50 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise
will be at 5:15 am.
