Long queues of ticket seekers at Kamalapur Station

The selling of advance train tickets started at Dhaka Kamalapur railway station on Sunday morning, for the third consecutive day on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. 

The train tickets selling started at 8:00 am today at Kamalapur railway station. Tickets for July 7 are being sold today on the occasion of Eid.

The crowd of ticket seekers has increased at the Kamalapur railway station on Sunday, compared to the previous two days.

The ticket selling process started at 8 am, and many people breathed a sigh of relief after getting the tickets. A ticket seeker named Babu from Kushtia said, he came to the station at 3:00 am. It feels good to get the ticket after a lot of trouble. He is hoping to be able to go home on Eid with his family members in comfort.

Khairul Islam, a student of Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, came to Kamalapur to buy a ticket for his relative.

“I came here at 7:00am and stood at the end of the queue. It is less likely to get the ticket today”, he said.

According to the relevant sources, six pairs of special trains will be operated on the Eid occasion. As last year, 50 percent of the tickets are being sold at the counter while the remaining 50 percent are online.

According to the counter authorities, advance train tickets for July 7 are being sold on July 3. Similarly, tickets for July 8 and 9 will be sold on 4, and 5, respectively.  

According to Bangladesh Railway sources, train tickets for Eid are available at six stations in Dhaka and Joydevpur Railway Station in Gazipur. The six stations in Dhaka are - Kamalapur, Tejgaon, Cantonment, Banani and Airport stations, and Phulbaria old station. 

Tickets for the entire northern intercity train are available at Kamalapur Railway Station, the central railway station in Dhaka. 

Train tickets for Rajshahi and Khulna are available from Kamalapur Shohortoli Platform.

All intercity train tickets to Chattogram and Noakhali are available from Dhaka Airport while people can buy tickets for Mymensingh, Jamalpur and Dewanganj trains from Tejgaon railway station.

Besides, tickets for Mohanganj-bound Mohanganj and Haor Express trains are available at Dhaka Cantonment Railway Station while people can purchase tickets for Sylhet and Kishoreganj trains from Fulbaria Railway Station. 

Each ticket-selling centre have a counter for women and persons with disabilities while each intercity train also have separate coaches for women and specially-abled passengers only.
