Today (Tuesday) is the last day to sell advance train
tickets for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. Even on the last day, a huge crowd of
ticket seekers was seen at the counter of Kamalapur railway station to get
advance tickets. Many of them have been standing in line since Monday (July 4).
Such situation was seen at the Kamalapur railway station in
the capital on Tuesday (July 5) morning.
Sarwar Alam, who came from old Dhaka, said, "I came and
stood in line on Sunday (July 3) afternoon." I couldn't get the ticket
because the ticket ran out. There are only eight people in front of me. I hope
to get tickets today. The bus tickets are very costly. I can go home by train
at a much lower cost.
Karim Uddin said he came on Monday and stood in line. “I did
not get any bus ticket to Gaibandha. I have no option but to buy train ticket”,
he said.
The sale of advance train tickets started on July 1. On that
day, the train ticket for July 5 was given. Then on July 2,3 and 4, advance
train ticket for July 6,7 and 8 were sold respectively. Today, on July 5, the
train ticket for July 9 will be sold.
Besides, return tickets will be on sale from July 7. Tickets
for July 11 will go on sale that day. Tickets for July 12 will be given on July
8, tickets for July 13 will be given on July 9, tickets for July 11, 14 and
July 15 will be sold. Of these, a limited number of intercity trains will run
on July 11 if Eid falls on July 10. However, all trains will run from July 12.
