General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road
Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said, Awami League does not want
uncontested elections, it wants competitive elections with the participation of
all political parties. He also said that Awami League never wants to score
goals in an empty field.
On Sunday (July 17), Obaidul Quader informed the journalists
after the discussion meeting with the concerned officers and employees at the
head office of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation-BRTC.
He said that the Election Commission is in dialogue with the
registered political parties from today. This dialogue of the Election
Commission will continue till July 31. The bridge minister said that a
delegation of 10 members of Awami League will participate in the dialogue with
the commission on July 31.
General Secretary of Awami League said that it is the
responsibility of all political parties to participate in this dialogue called
by the Election Commission. Those who want to change the government through
elections - only they have to participate in the elections.
Expecting that every registered political party will
participate in the dialogue of the Election Commission, Obaidul Quader said, we
want to see this election as a competitive one. That is why free, impartial and
credible elections will be held with the participation of all registered political
parties. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already made a lot of improvements in
the electoral system. Election system will be more modernized in future. The
current system will also favor a fair, free, impartial election.
Obaidul Quader hoped that the registered political parties
would play their responsible role by participating in the political dialogue
called by the Election Commission.
