The Department of Health has decided to observe nationwide
Booster Dose Day on Tuesday (July 19) to prevent corona infection. On this day,
the government is setting a target of giving 75 lakh people booster (third) and
second dose of Covid-19 vaccine. Anyone over 18 can take a booster dose four
months after the second dose. Pfizer vaccine will be given as a booster dose.
Details in this regard were given in a press conference of
the Department of Health on Monday (July 18) afternoon. Health and Family
Welfare Minister Zahid Malek, joining the press conference through video
conference and said that during this campaign, Covid-19 vaccine will be given
to all government medical college hospitals, specialized hospitals, district
headquarter hospitals, upazila health complexes as well as city corporations,
municipalities and upazila wards. Vaccination arrangements have been made in
623 permanent and 15 thousand 558 temporary centers across the country with the
aim of giving vaccines to about 75 lakh people in a day.
In Dhaka North City Corporation, 8 teams will work in 16
centers including 250-bed TB Hospital, National Heart Institute, Dhaka Dental
College and 4 teams in 11 centers. Besides, 8 teams each will work in 10
centers including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Central
Police Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital of South City Corporation
and 4 teams each in 4 centers.
A team will consist of 2 vaccinators and 3 volunteers. Each
team will vaccinate 500 people. The booster dose day facility will administer
the vaccine to women individually in a screened area at the center and give
priority to the elderly and disabled.
In addition, the normal activities of the regular Covid-19
vaccine 1st and 2nd dose will continue on this day.
