Mentioning that unlike in 2018, the election will be held
according to the law, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said
that the current Election Commission has come to keep its promises, not to make
a fuss. He also said that the parliamentary elections will be on time and the
elections will be impartial and corruption-free.
He said these things in a meeting with the leaders of Jamiat
Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh
at 10:30 am on Tuesday (July 26) at the Election Commission building.
Meanwhile, the CEC also clarified that the Commission (EC) will not be involved
in any form of corruption in future elections. He said, social movement should
be developed to stop the use of muscle power and black money in votes. The
commission alone cannot do anything for this, the political parties will have
to come out of this culture.
The Election Commission (EC) has started a series of
dialogues with the registered political parties ahead of the 12th National
Assembly elections. This dialogue started from last Sunday (July 17). Will
continue till 31 July.
