OC Pradeep & his wife jailed for over 20 years in graft case

The court ordered a 20-year prison sentence for Pradeep Kumar Das, the sacked OC of Teknaf Model Police Station in the case of acquisition of illegal assets. Also his wife Chumki has been sentenced to 21 years in prison.

Chittagong Divisional Special Judge Munshi Abdul Majid gave this order on Wednesday (July 27). Apart from imprisonment, the court also ordered the confiscation of all their properties.

Before this, the witness-examination of the state side in this case ended on May 29. A total of 29 people were made witnesses in the case. Among them, 24 people, including investigation officer Mo Riaz Uddin, took testimony.

The case came to trial on December 15 last year after the complaint was filed against Pradeep and Chumki.

On July 31, 2020, Retired Major Sinha Md Rashed Khan was shot dead at the APBN check post in Cox's Bazar. After Teknaf's OC Pradeep was sent to jail in that incident, ACC started investigating his illegal assets.

On August 23 that year, ACC Assistant Director Md Riaz Uddin filed a case against Pradeep and Chumki on the charge of owning illegal assets.
