53 arrested in an anti-drug operation in the capital

The crime and intelligence department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 53 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in anti-drug operations in different police stations in the capital.

A large quantity of drugs was seized from the arrested at that time. Besides, 34 cases have been filed against the arrested in different police stations of DMP.

On Thursday (August 4) morning, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) of DMP's Media and Public Relations Department, Farooq Hossain, confirmed this information.

He said, as part of DMP's regular anti-narcotics operation, they were arrested from 6 am on Wednesday (August 3) to 6 am today (August 4).

He also said that during the arrest, 4 thousand 114 pieces of Yaba, 20 grams of heroin, 6 liters of 13 bottles of Phensedyl and 19 kg 180 grams of cannabis were seized from them.

The officer also said that 34 cases have been filed against the arrested under the Narcotics Control Act in the concerned police stations.
