Amid various discussions and worries about the country's
economy, 550 million dollar remittances came in the first seven days of August,
which is equal to Tk 5 thousand 225 million at the current exchange rate (95 Tk
per dollar). Last July, expatriates sent remittances worth 2,090 million
dollars which is equal to 19 thousand 792 million 30 million Bangladeshi taka.
This information is known from the concerned department of
Bangladesh Bank.
According to sources, the remittances ($550 million) that
came in the first seven days of August this year are 48.20 percent higher than
the same period of August last year. Analyzing the data of these seven days, it
is seen that an average of 78.6 million dollars of remittances have arrived
every day. As a result, those concerned are hopeful that the remittance will
exceed two billion or 2,000 million dollars this month as well.
In the first month of the current (2022-23) financial year,
July, record amount of expatriate income came to the country. In the month,
expatriates sent 2.09 billion or 2,090 million dollars from different countries
of the world. In local currency (one dollar is equal to 94.70 taka) 19 thousand
792 crore 30 lakh taka, which is about 11 percent more than the same month of
the previous financial year (2021-22).
