The High Court wanted to know what steps the government and ACC have taken regarding the money deposited or smuggled by Bangladeshis in various banks in Switzerland.

On Thursday (August 11) on its own initiative, a bench comprising Justice Mo Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat put this question to the ACC and the state side.

Referring to the published news, the court wants to know how much money has been laundered in Switch Bank and what steps have been taken by the government and ACC in this regard. The state party or the ACC could not provide any information to the court immediately. Therefore, the ACC and the state party have been instructed to inform the High Court about the steps taken in this regard by next Sunday.

Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan represented the ACC in the court. Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state.

Earlier on Wednesday (August 10), Swiss Ambassador to Dhaka Nathalie Chuard said that Bangladesh did not ask for any specific information about the money of Bangladeshis in various banks in Switzerland.

The lawyers said that the Bangladesh government did not ask for any specific information from the Swiss bank regarding such allegations that most of the money deposited in the Swiss bank was illegally channeled. The High Court directed the ACC and the state to inform whether any action has been taken in this regard by Sunday.
