The government has given various concessions and facilities
to increase the flow of remittances. And the benefits are starting to come. In
the first 25 days of this month (August), remittances of 172 crores 93 lakhs or
1.73 billion dollars have arrived in the country. Its amount in Bangladeshi
currency (as 95 takas per dollar) is about 16 thousand 429 crore taka.
This information was revealed in the remittance report of
Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (August 28).
Those concerned in the sector say that if this flow
continues, there is a possibility that remittances of 214 crore dollars will
come in the whole month of August.
In 25 days, out of 172 crore 93 lakh dollars, 31 crore 50 lakh
dollars came through five state-owned banks. 2 crore 10 lakh dollars came
through the specialized Bangladesh Agricultural Bank. And remittances of 138 crore
69 lakh dollars came through private banks.
As always, the highest remittances came through Islami Bank.
Remittances of 35 crore 62 lakh dollars have come through this private sector
bank. Next is the state-owned Agrani Bank. 11 crore dollars came through this
bank.
In the previous month (July), remittance of 209.69 crore
dollar or about 20 thousand crore taka came to the country.
183.72 crore dollars came in June of this year and
remittances of 188.53 crore dollars came in May.
