Indian businessman and Chairman of Adani Group Gautam Adani
has promised that Bangladesh will get electricity from Godda Power Project by
December 16 this year. He said this in a tweet after a meeting with Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (September 5) evening.
In a tweet, Adani wrote, “It is an honour to have met Hon PM
of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina in Delhi. Her vision for Bangladesh is
inspirational and stunningly bold. We are committed to commissioning our 1600
MW Godda Power Project and dedicated transmission line to Bangladesh by Bijoy
Dibosh, 16 Dec 2022.”
Meanwhile, Indian Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar held a
meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Bangladesh High Commission in
New Delhi on Monday.
After the meeting, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen told
the briefing, quoting the Indian minister, that they told us that India is
keeping an eye on the unrest there (Rakhine State).
The foreign secretary said that the existing bilateral
relations between the two neighboring countries are very good. In the meeting,
both Bangladesh and India offered their proposals to increase connectivity
between the neighboring countries.
Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on Monday afternoon on a
four-day visit at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshana Vikram Jardosh welcomed
the Prime Minister on her arrival at Delhi Airport.
