Youth development was disrupted, after Bangabandhu's murder: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that after the assassination of the Father of the Nation, there was an interruption in the continuity of youth development. After 1975, the military government seized power. Ziaur Rahman came to power after killing the Father of the Nation. That Ziaur Rahman led the youth astray by handing over weapons and drugs. He tried to maintain his power by handing over arms to the youth.

Sheikh Hasina said these things at the 'Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award-2022' distribution ceremony held at Ganabhaban in the capital on Sunday (September 11).

Sheikh Hasina said, youth are the real wealth of a country. They can lead the country, take the country to the peak of development. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was able to understand this. So he took comprehensive programs for the development of the youth.

She said, the youth have taken this country forward. It is the youth who led the liberation struggle of this country.

At this time, Sheikh Hasina read some speeches about the youth from the unfinished autobiography of the Father of the Nation.

Sheikh Hasina said, however, after Awami League came to power in 1996, priority was again given to the youth, emphasis was placed on developing them suitable for the modern world. At present, the government is working to create suitable manpower for employment in the country and abroad.
