Suppressed anger causing students to commit suicide: Education Minister

Students are choosing to commit suicide due to suppressed anger, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni. She made this comment in response to questions from journalists after distributing checks to the victims of river erosion at Haimchar in Chandpur on Sunday (September 11).

Dipu Moni said, girls are often victims of eve teasing in various ways. If she can't talk about the problem to her family and not to her teacher, the repressed emotions can lead to suicidal behavior. So, let's talk to our children openly. Try to understand their problems and do it with sensitivity. We should not blame the child if we see any problem in the beginning and tell her 'it's your fault'. We need to teach our children to control their emotions. Such emotions can lead them to commit suicide.

Dipu Moni said, Adolescence is a time when students go through a lot of changes including physical and mental. They don't always get the right information. Parents also do not understand them properly. The school textbooks also don’t inform them about what it is.
