Selection of nomination papers for district council elections today

The returning officers will select the nomination papers submitted by the candidates for the upcoming Zilla Parishad elections today (September 18).

As per the schedule announced by the EC, selection of nomination papers is September 18, time for filing appeals against selection of nomination papers is September 19 to 21, disposal of appeal is September 22 to 24, last date for withdrawal of candidature is September 25. Allotment of symbols is on 26th September. And the voting will be held on October 17.

The election management branch of EC said that 162 candidates for the post of chairman, 1 thousand 983 candidates for the post of general member and 715 candidates for the post of reserved member have submitted their nomination papers in this election.

Besides, there are 19 single candidates in 19 districts for the post of chairman. They will be elected unopposed unless they withdraw their candidature or are disqualified.

The concerned Deputy Commissioner is serving as the returning officer in the election. Besides, the concerned Additional Divisional Commissioner is engaged as Appellate Authority.
