Myanmar Ambassador again summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the ambassador of Myanmar over the death of a Rohingya teenager and injuries to a number of Rohingya when a mortar shell fired from the mountains of Myanmar's Rakhine State landed across the Ghumdhum border of Naikhongchhari Upazila of Bandarban and fell on the zero line opposite the Tumbru border.

The ambassador of Myanmar was summoned four times in one month.

On Sunday (September 18) at 11:20 a.m., the Ambassador of Myanmar, Aung Kyaw, came to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After waiting for about 15 minutes, the ambassador was summoned to the office of Nazmul Huda, Acting Director General of the Myanmar Microbiology Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The firing continued since Friday evening (September 16) across the Ghumdhum border of Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban. In that incident, a mortar shell fired from the mountains of Rakhine State fell on the zero line killing a Rohingya teenager. The teenager died at Kutupalong MSF Hospital in Ukhia around 9:30 pm on Friday. Besides, five Rohingya including a child were injured in that incident. They are now under treatment in the hospital.

Dhaka has strongly protested by calling the Myanmar ambassador posted in Dhaka three times in less than a month after the entry of Myanmar aircraft near the border of Bangladesh, a bullet fired from the territory of Myanmar in the Tumbru area of the border of Bangladesh, two shells fired from Myanmar warplanes landed in Ghumdhum area of Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban and a mortar shell fired from Myanmar landed on Bangladesh border. Every time a note verbale is handed to him.

On September 9, a bullet fired from the territory of Myanmar landed in the Tumbru area of the Bangladesh border. Earlier on September 3 at 9:30 am, two shells fired from Myanmar warplanes fell in Ghumdhum area of Naikkhyongchari upazila of Bandarban. Before that, a mortar shell fired from Myanmar in the afternoon of August 28 hit Tumburu unexploded.
