Khaleda Zia's release period will increase again

The government has again decided to extend the suspension of the sentence of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. As a result, her release period is increasing again by the executive order of the government.

Law Minister Anisul Haque confirmed the matter on Sunday.

He said, two days ago I agreed to extend the suspension period of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's sentence by 6 months. But Khaleda Zia cannot go abroad and has to receive treatment from home. Now the government will issue a notification in this regard.

Earlier, on September 11, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's family requested for the extension of the suspension of her sentence for the sixth time. The application was submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs at 4 pm on Sunday (September 11).

The BNP leader, who was convicted in two corruption cases, was released on March 25, 2020 after the sentence was suspended for six months by the government's executive order amid the Corona pandemic. After that, the period of suspension of his sentence was extended in 5 stages.

Each time the condition was that Khaleda Zia had to get treatment from her home in Dhaka and she could not go abroad.
