CU BCL blocks university, shuttle train, bus services halted

Leaders and activists of a faction of Chittagong University (CU) Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), have called for an indefinite blockade to demand evaluation of the dedicated workers who allegedly were deprived of posts in the full committee. They have locked the main entrance of the university. Shuttle train and bus services have also been suspended due to this.

As a result of the blockade, no teacher buses left for the city from the university's transport department. The matter was confirmed by the administrator of the university's transport department, SM Moazzam Hossain.

Besides, the shuttle train has been stopped at Sholoshahar railway station. Station master Abhi Sen said that the train service has been stopped due to the movement of the university's Chhatra League committee.

Rakibul Hasan Dinar, vice president of the branch Chhatra League, said, "We have been expressing our demands peacefully for a long time. We have requested not to force us to go into harder movements. The movement of who were deprived of the post has support. The top two leaders of the Chhatra League should take responsibility for spoiling the environment of university education.

Since the announcement of the full committee of the CU Chhatra League, several groups have been protesting against the committee as illegal, pocket committee. Meanwhile, several sub-groups of the branch Chhatra League have been protesting on the issues of giving committees to married, inactive, infiltrators and incompetents.

Their demands are- Inclusion in the committee by evaluating the deposed sacrificers and hardworking workers, Re-evaluation of the posts as per merit of the leaders placed in the committee, taking organizational measures against married, employed and long-term inactive people in the committee.  They have warned of strict movement if their demand is not fulfilled.
