Rubel Hossain has announced his retirement from Test. He has
given an official letter to BCB on Monday in this regard. He said this in his
Facebook status.
Rubel wrote on Facebook that, ‘Longer version tournaments
play an important role in strengthening the pipeline of the Bangladesh national
team. I think the more opportunities young pacers will get in these tournaments,
the stronger our pipeline will become. So I have decided to retire from red
ball cricket to give opportunities to young cricketers.’
Rubel also wrote, ‘I have had the good fortune to play 27
Test matches for Bangladesh. Which is one of the achievements of my career.
Thanks to those who have supported me in this journey of international and
domestic cricket in red ball cricket. I hope have you all by my side in the
upcoming future.’
Rubel wants to continue playing in ODI and T20 formats. He
wrote, ‘I have retired from test. However, I have the ability to give more to Bangladesh
national team in ODI and T20 format. So I will continue to play regularly in
DPL, BPL and other white ball tournaments. Keep me in your prayers. May I give
you colorful days in white ball cricket for the rest of my career.’
