IU becomes champion in inter-university basketball

The Basketball Team of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia became champion in the Bangabandhu Inter-University Basketball Tournament-2022 defeating Jahangirnagar University by 74-62 points. The final round was held at North-South University on Sunday.

A prize-giving ceremony was held there where Christopher Gonsalvas, one of the IU basketball team members, received the best player award.

Mesbah Uddin, secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports presided over the program while Asaduzzaman Khan, Home Minister of Bangladesh attended here as the chief guest. North-South university Vice-chancellor Prof Atiqul Islam, Independent university Vice-chancellor Prof Tanweer Hasan and IU Physical Education department director Dr. Mohammad Sohel, among others, were also present on the occasion.

“A total of 23 public and private universities took part in the tournament,” said Dr. Mohammad Sohel, director of IU physical education department.
