case of anti-social activities or illegal sale of liquor. He also mentioned
Section 23 of the Narcotics Control Act.
He said this in a press conference arranged by the DMP Media

The Department of Narcotics Control has said that the police
raid on an alleged bar called Kingfisher Restaurant in Uttara was wrong. When
asked how can DB conduct the operation, the head of the unit said, "You
(journalist) know well whether the police can recover drugs or conduct
anti-narcotics operations." Section 23 of our Narcotics Control Act
clearly states who shall or shall not raid.
He said, if necessary, the police can carry out raids or
searches at any place in case of illegal anti-social activities, illegal sale
of alcohol and any other incident. We've been doing it all the time, we've been
taking down big shipments. Besides, we are conducting raids on illegal bars.
On the night of October 6, the Uttara Division of the Dhaka
Metropolitan Police (DB) conducted a raid at a bar called Kingfisher located in
Uttara Sector 13. 500 bottles of foreign liquor and 6,000 cans of beer were
seized from the bar and 35 people were arrested in the raid.
