9 dead in Cyclone Sitrang

At least nine people have been reported died across the country due to the impacts of Cyclone Sitrang.

The storm started to cross Bangladesh territory on Monday (October 24, 2022) evening and the centre of the cyclone crossed the coast around midnight. The coastal districts including Noakhali, Bhola, Barishal and Cox's Bazar were submerged due to tidal surge of nine feet.

Three deaths were reported in Cumilla, two in Bhola, two in Sirajganj and one each in Narail and Barguna districts.

According to the observations of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the wind speed was highest 74 kmh in Cox's Bazar and Chattogram at 9.30pm on Monday.
