Cyclone Sitrang: Traffic on different routes getting normal

Cyclone Sitrang had effects across the country. Traffic on the Dhaka-Chittagong, Dhaka-Barisal and Dhaka-Khulna highways was blocked as trees fell on the roads and highways.

Meanwhile, trees blocking the road were removed from Tuesday morning. Traffic from Dhaka to different parts of the country is becoming normal.

Faridpur Bhanga Highway Police OC Taimur Alam said that fallen trees have been removed at various places on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. Traffic is now normal on the road.

Traffic on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway is also getting normal. Two trees fell on the road at Dariyakandi in Sonargaon on Monday night. A similar incident took place at Daudkandi in Comilla. The trees have been removed and the traffic has been normalized.

Cyclone Sitrang started crossing the coast between Barisal and Chittagong divisions with a speed of 80 to 90 km per hour at 6:30 pm on Monday.

Sitrang crosses the coast of Bangladesh through Khepupara of Patuakhali and Chittagong. Due to the impact of the storm, there has been a 9 feet high tide in different areas of Noakhali, Bhola, Barisal and Cox's Bazar. So far 9 people have died due to the cyclone.
