Cyclone Sitrang: 80 lakh subscribers without electricity

Eight million subscribers are currently without power due to Cyclone Sitrang disrupting power distribution lines. This problem will be solved by tomorrow (October 26) afternoon, 100% of the subscribers will come under electricity, said State Minister for Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid.

He gave this information to reporters in the meeting room of his ministry at the secretariat on Tuesday (October 25) about the power situation after cyclone Sitrang.

Meanwhile, according to the latest news, 14 people have died in eight districts of cyclone Sitrang. At least two hundred trees fell on the road in the capital disrupting the traffic movement.

In response to the question of how many subscribers are without power due to Cyclone Sitrang, the State Minister said that we have about 48 million subscribers. Now about 8 million subscribers are without power. More than 800 poles of REB (Rural Electrification Board) were damaged. In total, about one and a half to two thousand poles have been damaged, including the PDB. We expect to have power on about 70 percent of subscribers by this afternoon.
