Amatullah Bushra, the main accused in the case filed over the murder of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Fardin Noor Parash, has been put on a five-day remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehadi Hasan granted the remand plea on Thursday after Inspector of Rampur Thana Mohammad Golam Moula had sought a seven-day remand. No lawyer was present for Bushra.

Bushra, a friend of Fardin and student of East West University, was arrested from her Rampura residence on Wednesday night.

Earlier, Fardin’s father Nur Uddin Rana filed the case with Rampura Thana against some people including Bushra.

Parash was a third-year student of civil engineering. On 4 November, he left home and did not return.

Later, his father filed a general diary with the Rampura Thana in this regard. Monday afternoon, the body was seen floating on the Shitalakshya River just behind a cotton mill at Siddhirganj.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Following his autopsy on 8 November, he was buried at Delpara Central Graveyard in Narayanganj.
