Dhaka-Mymensingh train service resumes after 2 hours

Rail communication from Dhaka with Mymensingh was restored after two hours of the recovery of the broken down engine at Sreepur in Gazipur. 

The engine of the Dhaka-bound Jamalpur commuter train broke down in the Maijpara area in the middle of Kawraid station on Saturday around 10:30 am.

Shamima Jahan, station master of Sreepur Railway Station, said that the Mymensingh-bound Mahua Express stopped at Rajendrapur Station and the Dhaka-bound Brahmaputra Express stopped at Kawraid Station after the Jamalpur commuter train engine broke down. Hundreds of thousands of passengers of three trains suffered.

She said that the engine of the stopped Mahua Express was separated and taken to the damaged train. After that, the train was brought to Sreepur station and the train movement on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route was normalized around 1:15 pm.
