Bangabandhu gave constitutional recognition to the fundamental rights of people

After the Great Liberation War, even standing on a pile of rubble in the newly independent Bangladesh, the father of the nation had thoughts, plans and initiatives about the health sector. He provided constitutional recognition to the fundamental right to health for the people, increased budget in the health sector. Incorporated a comprehensive vision of health for all and its implementation in the five-year plan. Established institutions such as the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council, Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons, National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM). He established the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, currently known as the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, for the advancement of medical care through IPGMER. National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), Dhaka Shishu Hospital, Salimullah Medical College, Bangladesh Medical Research Institute BMRC was established by him. 

Philosophical statesperson Sheikh Hasina's multidimensional health initiative plan has also succeeded. She sstablished several world class specialized hospitals including National Institute of Opthalmology & Hospital (NIOH), National Cancer Institute, Sheikh Russel National Gastroliver Institute & Hospital, National Institute of Neuro Sciences & Hospital. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University has been transformed into a super-specialized hospital under her visionary direction. She facilitated the education of doctors by establishing several medical universities. Today the country is self-sufficient in medicine production. The innovative power of community clinics in discrimination-free Bangladesh is recognized and admired today as a role model in the world's health sector. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is research-oriented, always enthusiastic about medical research. Her encouragement has propelled Bangladesh Medical Research Council to the forefront. BMRC is much more prosperous today under her guidance and with the efforts of Hon'ble Dr. Syed Modachher Ali Sir, Chairman of BMRC. The grand-daughter of Bangabandhu and the daughter of Philosophical statesperson Sheikh Hasina Saima Wazed has become the Reigonal director of WHO southeast asia region. 35% of people in this region of the world are far behind in good health. I believe, Saima Wazed will take South-East Asia's health services to unique heights under her capable leadership.

Saima Wazed, the granddaughter of Bangabandhu and the daughter of the philosophical statesperson Sheikh Hasina, has assumed the role of Regional Director for the WHO Southeast Asia Region. In this part of the world, 35% of the population lags significantly behind in terms of good health. I am confident that under her capable leadership, Saima Wazed will elevate the health services in South-East Asia to unprecedented heights.
