A woman constable, who was detained in an 'objectionable
condition' at the house of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Court Inspector Pradeep
Kumar Das, has also been withdrawn and attached to the police lines.
Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) BM Ashraf Ullah
Taher confirmed the matter in a press release on Saturday (December 4th).
BM Ashraf Ullah said that the woman constable was withdrawn
and added to the police line in an office order signed by Sylhet Metropolitan
Police Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) Mohammad Jabedur Rahman.
According to the office order, the 6-day casual leave of the
woman constable (No. 1773) has been canceled and she has been added to the
police lines.
Earlier, Sylhet Police Commissioner Nisharul Arif had
confirmed that court inspector Pradeep Kumar Das involved in the incident had
been withdrawn, adding that a departmental case would be filed against the
accused. Earlier on Wednesday (December 1) night, Court Inspector Pradeep Kumar
Das was caught by police members, including a female constable, in his room in
an "offensive condition" at Adalat Para.
According to several police sources, the woman constable,
who was on leave, was called by Inspector Pradeep Kumar Das to her room in the
court building at night. At around 9pm, seeing the door open and the lights being
turned off inside, other policemen went to the room and saw the court inspector
and the female constable in an awkward condition.
When the matter was reported to the higher authorities,
Pradeep Kumar Das was removed from the workplace and attached to the police
lines the next day. At that time the female constable was on leave. Her leave
was later canceled and she was withdrawn from the workplace and attached to the
police line as well.
