9 sentenced to death in BCL leader Shahin Shah murder case

A court in Rajshahi has sentenced nine people to death and 22 to life imprisonment in the murder case of BCL leader Shahin Shah. HM Ilias Hossain, Judge of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court pronounced the verdict on Thursday (December 9th).

It is learned that Shahin Shah is the younger brother of Rajshahi City Corporation's panel mayor-2 and councilor of ward no. 1 Rajab Ali. Shahin Shah was killed in an attack on the afternoon of August 28, 2013. Apprentice lawyer Shahin Shah was the former general secretary of Rajshahi Court College Chhatra League. His brother Juba League leader Nahid Akhter Nahan became the plaintiff in the murder case and filed a murder case with the Rajpara police station the next day. Meanwhile, the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector of Rajpara Police Station Moniruzzaman, filed a chargesheet against 31 people including Munsur Rahman, the then Ward Councilor of City Corporation No. 1.

Plaintiffs' attorneys say they have been able to prove the allegations against the defendants in court.
