Two Japanese children present in court

Following a contempt of court petition filed by a Japanese mother, father Imran Sharif appeared at the Appellate Division with two Japanese children, Jasmine Malika and Laila Lina, at around 11am on a judge's order.

The Appellate Division, headed by the Chief Justice, passed the order on Monday (December 13) morning after hearing the appeal of the Japanese mother. The children's Bangladeshi father Imran Sharif has been asked to implement the directive.

Nakano Erico, a Japanese mother, filed a contempt of court petition against the children's father, Imran Sharif, for not handing over the two children, Jasmine Malika and Laila Lina, despite an order from the Appellate Division. The application was filed on Monday (December 13) at the concerned branch of the Appellate Division. Yesterday, the Appellate Division directed to keep the two children Jasmine Malika and Laila Lina in the custody of the Japanese mother on December 13 and 14. At the same time, on December 15, the two children were asked to be brought to court.

Mohammad Shishir Monir, Nakano Erico's lawyer, said the contempt of court case would be referred to the Appellate Division.

Lawyer Shishir Monir said that the Appellate Division had instructed to hand over the two children to their mother by 10 pm last night. Although the children were brought, they were not handed over to their mother. That is why we have filed a contempt of court petition.
