A cyber tribunal in Sylhet dismissed a case brought under
the Digital Security Act against Dr. Murad Hassan, the former State Minister
for Information and Broadcasting, today.
According to Advocate Tanvir Akther Khan, plaintiff and
organizing secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum in Sylhet, the case was
dismissed by the tribunal's Judge Abul Kashem.
"We were not given any explanation why the tribunal
decided to dismiss the case. But will get to know once the certified copy of the order reaches our hands. Then we'll go to the High Court," he said.
According to the case statement, Murad Hassan and Helal
Nahid used "profoundly vulgar, misogynistic, and derogatory language"
against the Zia family and Zaima Rahman during a Facebook live and disseminated
false information.
Meanwhile, an audio clip of Murad Hasan's obscene conversation
with a heroine was leaked recently that put the government is in an extremely
embarrassing situation. Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road
Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader spoke to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on
the issue. Prime Minister Murad was ordered to resign from the cabinet. Murad
resigned last Tuesday.
